All property including houses are owned by society. Other than the Right To Stay discussed earlier, there should be limited protection for existing occupants. This is corroborated in the advice found in intentional communities of today: everyone has to contribute to society regardless of what their parents contributed. Inherited property is a form of privilege.
That being said, folks should be able to rest at the end of a life in support of society and this is hopefully reflected in their accumulated credit savings. Additionally, PE allows for neighborhood councils to support others in their consumption of land. In fact, the example of the rural utopia would likely be easily financed by the supporting neighborhood council given that they’ve made themselves as self sufficient as possible so the council’s cost is mostly the land and possibly some utility work.
What I am unsure about in the original article is the idea of “housing providers”. It sounds like landlords who extract fees for agreeing to maintenance. Why not extract the maintenance portion into a service worker council? Then what remains that a housing provider is responsible for?
